Deborah & Phoebe
Women trusted with leadership and service in their communities of faith
This scene takes place on a hillside overlooking a small village, where Deborah has been leading the women in prayer and service to God.
Deborah: "Phoebe, I've been thinking about our conversations and the role you've played in the early Christian church. You've always been the one to take the initiative, to speak out against injustice and to encourage others to do the same."
Phoebe: "Deborah, I've been reflecting on our time together, and I have to say, I'm struck by the parallels between our experiences and the way women have been trusted with leadership and service in our communities of faith. We've both known the power of being called to act, to take risks and to trust in God's goodness."
Deborah: "Yes, exactly! And I think that's what I love most about our conversations. You've always been the one to challenge the status quo, to question the norms and to seek out new ways of doing things. I've been the one to listen, to seek guidance from the community, and to learn from the mistakes of others."
Phoebe: "Deborah, I want to emphasize that our experiences have been far from isolated. We've both been part of communities that have faced incredible challenges and hardships, from persecution to poverty. And yet, we've both found ways to persevere, to trust in God's provision and to serve others in our own unique ways."
The sound of a gentle wind rustling through the hillside trees provides a soothing background hum, punctuated by the occasional chirping of birds.
Deborah: "I think that's what I love most about our conversations, Phoebe. We've both found ways to connect our experiences to the broader narrative of the story, to the ways in which women have been trusted with leadership and service throughout history."
Phoebe: "Deborah, I'd like to say that our conversations have been a source of great comfort and inspiration to me. It's been a privilege to share my own experiences and to listen to yours, and to find that our stories are not so different after all."
The sound of a gentle breeze carrying the sweet scent of blooming flowers carries the scene to a close, as the two women stand together, hands clasped, and hearts full of gratitude.
