Some mornings you wake up with questions. Most mornings, it’s a little of both.Life rarely hands us the full picture. We don’t get the whole map, the whole plan, or the whole explanation. What we get is a lamp — a small, steady light that reaches just far enough for the next faithful step.And that’s not God being distant. That’s God being kind.A lamp keeps you close to the One holding it. A lamp slows you down enough to walk with Him instead of sprinting ahead. A lamp teaches trust, not panic.We like clarity. We like certainty. We like to know what’s coming next. But God knows that if we saw everything ahead — the twists, the turns, the valleys, the unexpected blessings — we’d start trying to manage it all ourselves. We’d plan without Him. We’d run ahead of Him.So He gives us just enough light for today.Not tomorrow. Not next month. Not the whole journey. Just today.And maybe that’s exactly what your heart needs right now — permission to stop trying to solve the whole road and simply take the next step that’s lit.Maybe the next step is a prayer. Maybe it’s a phone call. Maybe it’s rest. Maybe it’s courage. Maybe it’s simply choosing not to give up.Whatever it is, God has already gone ahead of you. He’s standing in your tomorrow, steady and unshaken. You don’t have to figure out the future. You just have to walk with Him in the present.The lamp is enough. The step is enough. Every so often, God calls someone’s name twice.“Abraham, Abraham…” “Samuel, Samuel…” “Martha, Martha…”It’s never random. It’s never harsh. It’s never the sound of an impatient God tapping His foot.It’s the voice of a Father leaning in close.When Jesus said, “Martha, Martha,” He wasn’t scolding her for serving. He wasn’t frustrated with her effort. He wasn’t pointing out a flaw. He was reaching for her heart.Her hands were full, but her spirit was tired. Her schedule was packed, but her soul was thin. And Jesus knew the difference.The double calling wasn’t correction — it was invitation. It was His way of saying, “You’re distracted, but I’m right here. Come sit with Me again.”I think many of us live in that same tension. We’re doing good things, necessary things, even ministry things… but our hearts get noisy. Our pace gets too fast. Our minds get tangled in the “many things” Jesus mentioned.And when that happens, the Lord often speaks the same way He did to Martha: gently, patiently, personally.Sometimes He whispers your name once, and you keep moving. Then He says it again — not louder, but deeper. Not to shame you, but to settle you. Not to expose you, but to draw you back to the one thing that matters.If your thoughts are scattered today… If your spirit feels stretched… If your heart is carrying more than it was built to hold…Hear Him call your name twice.Hear the kindness in it. Places that feel safe but smell like death. Places we didn’t choose, but somehow settled into. Places where the light doesn’t reach.Lazarus knew that place. Four days in the tomb. Wrapped tight. Silent. Still.And then — a voice. A voice that knew his name before he could answer. A voice that reached deeper than death could hold. “Lazarus, come out.”Baptism is that same voice.It is God standing at the mouth of our tombs — the ones we built, the ones life built for us — and calling us into a new kind of living. Not polished. Not perfect. But alive.When we go down into the water, we enter the quiet place where Lazarus lay. The place where everything stops. The place where we cannot save ourselves.And when we rise, we rise because Someone called our name.Baptism is not a bath. It is not a symbol we invented. It is a resurrection rehearsal.It is God saying:“You don’t belong to the darkness.” “You are not defined by what wrapped you up.” “You are not staying where death left you.” “Come out. Live again.” And just like Lazarus, we don’t come out tidy. We come out dripping. We come out wrapped in old cloth. We come out blinking at the light.Resurrection is a process, not a moment.Jesus raises us — but the community unbinds us.That’s why baptism is done in front of people. Because we need hands to help unwrap the grave clothes. We need voices to remind us who we are. We need a family to walk with us as we learn how to live again.Lazarus walked out of the tomb still tied up. We walk out of the water still learning how to be free.But the same voice that called him calls us:“Come out.” “Live.” “Walk in the light.” “You are mine.”And every time we remember our baptism — every time we touch water, every time we feel the weight of old grave clothes trying to cling again — we remember the truth:We have already been called out. We have already been named. We have already been raised.The tomb is no longer our address. The grave is no longer our story. Death is no longer our master.We belong to the One who calls life out of dead places.And He is still calling our name.

And if we’re honest, some days feel so ordinary that we wonder if anything sacred is happening at all.But the older I get, the more I see that God has never been afraid of the ordinary. In fact, He seems to prefer it.He met Moses while he was doing nothing more spiritual than watching sheep. He called David while he was running errands. He whispered to Elijah when everything around him had finally gone quiet. He walked beside two discouraged disciples on a dusty road, not in a temple or a revival meeting, but in the middle of their disappointment.The holy often hides inside the simple.And maybe that’s the invitation for us today. Not to chase the dramatic, not to wait for the “big moment,” but to trust that the God who sees sparrows and numbers hairs is already woven into the small corners of our day. He’s in the hallway conversations. He’s in the decisions no one else will ever know about. He’s in the quiet prayers we breathe while washing dishes or sitting in traffic. He’s in the strength we don’t feel but somehow find.Nothing in your day is too small for Him to guide. Nothing is too ordinary for Him to enter.So walk slowly today. Pay attention. Let your heart stay open. The Lord is not far off—He is right here, walking into the ordinary with you, shaping it into something meaningful, even if you can’t see it yet.

It’s a handoff — from the weakness of this world into the hands of the Savior who promised, “I go to prepare a place for you.”The body grows quiet. The soul goes home.There’s no wandering. No confusion. Just the gentle pull of Christ’s presence.2. The Resting of the Body The body returns to the earth, the way Scripture says it will. But it rests with dignity, because it is a body Christ will raise again.The grave is not a prison. It’s a waiting room.A seed planted in hope.3. The Life of the Soul The soul of the believer is not asleep. It is awake — more awake than it ever was here.Paul said, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Not someday. Not eventually. But present.In His light. In His peace. In His keeping.4. The Journey Beyond There is a day coming when Christ will call every believer by name. The grave will give back what it borrowed. The body will rise — healed, whole, restored.No more pain. No more fear. No more separation.Just the fullness of life God intended from the beginning.5. Why This Matters Now We prepare for death the same way we prepare for life:by walking with Christ by trusting His promises by keeping short accounts by loving well by remembering that this world is not our final address Death is not the end of the story. It’s the doorway into the chapter God has been writing toward all along.

&nbsp; There is a moment in every believer’s life when the Lord gently brings us to the end of our own strength. Not to harm us, but to free us. We often think God is asking us to do more, try harder, or push through. But the longer I walk with Him, the more I see that much of His work begins when mine stops.One of my favorite authers Watchman Nee once wrote that the Christian life is not lived by “straining and striving,” but by allowing Christ to be the life within us. That truth has a way of exposing how much of our “strength” is really just fear wearing a brave face.Paul said it plainly:“When I am weak, then I am strong.” Not because weakness is noble, but because weakness finally makes room for Christ. There is a quiet surrender the Lord invites us into—not dramatic, not emotional, not even visible to others. It is the simple turning of the heart that says:“Lord, I cannot. But You can.”And in that moment, something shifts. Not always in our circumstances, but in us.The burden becomes lighter because it is no longer ours to carry. The fear loosens because it is no longer our job to control the outcome. The pressure fades because Christ never asked us to be the source—only the vessel. Nee often emphasized that God does not strengthen the old man; He replaces him with Christ Himself. That is the secret. Not a stronger version of me, but a surrendered version of me through whom Christ can live.Today, let your weakness be your offering. Let your limits be your confession. Let your inability be the doorway through which His life flows.You don’t need to be impressive. You don’t need to be enough. You only need to be His.And that is where strength begins.
