When the Ancients Spoke — Episode 12: Jeremiah & Stephen

The air is heavy with dust and silence. Two men stand facing each other — one from the age of kings, one from the birth of the church. Both prophets. Both misunderstood.

Jeremiah: You speak too quickly, young man. Truth burns hot, but it must be carried carefully.

Stephen: And you speak too slowly, old prophet. The world is on fire — silence feels like betrayal.

Jeremiah: I learned that fire consumes the messenger first. I warned kings, priests, nations — none listened. They called me mad. They threw me in a pit.

Stephen: They threw stones at me. I saw heaven open as they did. And still — I forgave them.

Jeremiah: Forgiveness. That’s a word I struggled with. I wept for them, but I could not forget their cruelty.

Stephen: I didn’t forget either. But I saw the Son of Man standing — and suddenly, the pain didn’t matter.

Jeremiah: You saw what I only dreamed of. I spoke of a new covenant — you saw it written in blood and grace.

Stephen: And you prepared the way for it. Your tears watered the ground I stood on.

Jeremiah: Then perhaps our suffering was not wasted. Truth costs what it must.

Stephen: And mercy pays the rest.

They stand quietly now — two men who carried God’s word through fire and stone. The tension fades. Only understanding remains.
